About

How They Help

How do your programs or services help the community?

Columbus Urban League works to better the lives of Columbus citizens by advocating for equal opportunities for all. Columbus Urban League helps improve the lives of local African American males, helps increase academic achievement of Columbus youth, helps people find affordable and fair housing, and helps promote self-sufficiency by working to connect unemployed individuals with job opportunities.

Program Descriptions

African American Male Initiative:
aims to empower African American males and improve their quality of life. This initiative has remained an important part of Columbus Urban League’s mission since the initiative was founded in 2007. Under this initiative, Columbus Urban League helps educate and connect fathers to assist them in becoming nurturing, responsible fathers. Another program under the initiative helps ex-offenders transition back into society.

Education and Youth Services: aim to increase academic achievement among Columbus youth, as well as enhance life and leadership skills. Services include middle school tutoring and a summer youth empowerment program.
Head Start Academy:
aims to provide early childhood education that prepares kids for success as they transition to the next level of learning.

Workplace Development and Career Services: aims to connect unemployed citizens with job opportunities. Columbus Urban League promotes self-sufficiency and family stabilization.

Financial Empowerment Services: aims to help counsel local citizens when they are looking to buy or rent housing. Columbus Urban League educates prospective buyers/renters on finding fair housing and finding financially responsible options.
